We laid 3 truck loads of top soil over our extremely rocky lot, we laid 3,000sqft of good ol' Kentucky blue, planted about 20 shrubs, 6 trees, and broke our backs. Sounds fun huh?
We worked hard to grade our lot how we wanted but unfortunately the guys who put in the sprinklers made it a total mess again and it had to be done all over again. We also got a call from the turf farm informing us they wouldnt be able to deliver on the day we wanted because the sod was too wet to cut. They offer free delivery from their farm in Goshen, UT but we asked if we waited until the afternoon and came to get it ourselves would they still cut it for us? They sure did! Horray! Wait.... my loving father took his truck & a big trailer down to Goshen to get it, he got there and they cut 3,000sqft of the WRONG sod. Seriously? So he had to wait until they cut another 3,000 of the right stuff, then make the long and slow trip back. He left at about 1:30pm or so and didnt get back until 9pm. Folks, Goshen is only 40 miles away give or take. My poor Dad! So we unloaded all 3,000sqft at 10pm in the freezing cold - and the dark. F-U-N.
After we unloaded all that stupid grass we had to lay it - Donavon had to go back to work on Friday and what do you know.... it was Friday. My parents & I laid sod all day. Once Donavon got home him and our neighbor Andy laid the rest. Andy is a trooper! He's always over asking what he can do to help, and hello, his wife just had a baby! Bless her heart. I'd be secretly mad and wanting a break from a toddler and a premie.
So my dear neighbors, when its 90 degrees out and you are raking your rocks and breaking your backs.... dont look at us for help! We did it in the cold spring for a reason! That being so we can RELAX in our new yard all summer!!!!
Big thanks to all those who helped! It would have taken us for-ever to do it alone!
