9 Months & Counting....

All hail King Issac!

On June 4th Issac turned 9 months old. A lot has happened in the last few weeks that are pretty big milestones. My little baby is no longer a 'baby' he's a 'pre-toddler'.

Here are some of the things he's learned to do in the last few weeks...

His favorite things to say are: "Da-Da" "Nay-Nay" and "mmm-baa". I often hear him in his room chatting away to himself and his toys during nap time. I always try to get him to say 'Momma' and he replies 'Da da da da DA'. Now if that isnt an in your face!

His favorite things to do are: stand up on the sofa, walk around the sofa, climb on Diesel, hold your hands and walk around, try to crawl, pull himself up, and do anything else an adult does. Also riding in shopping carts and sitting in high chairs at the restaurants are pretty fun too!

His favorite things to eat are: anything fruity or cold, and of course french fries! He loves popsicles! Also drinking water out of a straw (not sipping it, just recieving drops). As well as Gerber baby Cheetos. He is a Cheeto MONSTER!!!

Some of the things he's learned how to do in the last 3 weeks are: walk around the sofa, roll over in both directions, go from sitting to standing all by himself, launch himself onto all fours - and then most recently he does the 'downward dog' pose or as Donavon says 'push up position'. He also waves back (if you are lucky and he likes you) and he now claps with both hands open (and will do it when you say 'yay!'. He even claps when people on TV clap, its pretty cute :)
He also now enjoys rolling around on his belly (he hated his belly 3 weeks ago). He will roll wherever he needs to go. He has also mastered the art of sucking on a sippy cup, rather than chewing it. Now if I could get him to tilt it himself! He loves to sip out of a real cup too. He will even hold a 'ba-ba' if it has juice in it, and sometimes if it has milk. Issac enjoys smacking & popping his lips too - we call them kisses.

He no longer sleeps through the night, up at about 3 or 3:30 playing in his crib clapping his hands and chatting away; and naps are history. Sometimes its 2 1/2 hours, sometimes is a half hour. and sometimes is just 1 hour a day. The cry it-out method doesnt work, he gasps air until he has an upset tummy, then barfs up all his food he just ate, or just has really really bad gas later and screams in pain. Fun times....

Now for some things he doesnt enjoy: Anyone who isnt Mommy or Daddy. He's definitely going through that phase of dont look at me or even think about touching me!! Last night at Applebee's the manager came over and was talking to Issac and he just gave him a death look then dropped his head in his lap and started screaming and crying. It was a show stopper, EVERYONE turned and looked!!! The manager felt so bad! He doesnt even like his Grandma & Grandpa Strain!! (at the moment anyways!) When people go to take him from us he grabs on for dear life!

It is amazing how fast they change! When I think about the things he has accomplished lately it boggles my mind. Where did my baby go?! I now have this wiggly worm of a child who wont sit still or stay in one place! As my brother said 'the dark years have begun'.

We still love him and enjoy watching him grow and develop. He does the cutest things and we cant help but give him hugs and kisses! On top of it all, I absolutely love having the opportunity to be at home with him every day and raise him and teach him.
